The route from Ano Verga to the top of Prophet Ilias is the par excellence classic route to climb Mount Kalathi. It is a unique aesthetic path that starts through the village. The route summarizes all the elements of the area: excellent stone paths, natural amphitheatres with terraces and stone cisterns and above all amazing views from the top.
The path is essentially cobblestone from the village of upper Verga to the fir forest. The path through the forest moves smoothly until just before the summit. From the top we have the opportunity to admire the entire Messinian gulf, the city of Kalamata and the plain with its villages. The sunset is one of the most beautiful in mainland Greece.
